The BOMA/GLA Awards of Excellence is a new awards and recognition program conducted annually to recognize outstanding building management professionals in Greater Los Angeles and to encourage and promote the advancement of our association through exceptional leadership. Members will be awarded in the following categories:
Barbara S. Harris Lifetime Achievement
This award is presented to a member of BOMA of Greater Los Angeles whose distinguished record of professional achievements and accomplishments has spanned decades and advanced the stature of commercial real estate professionals.
These accomplishments are made possible through such activities as risk taking, innovation and significant change. The awardees’ contributions are so outstanding that their influence is of lasting importance to the entire spectrum of commercial real estate in the Greater Los Angeles market. This award will not be given if, in the judgment of the committee, there is not sufficient evidence of sustained outstanding accomplishment.
Member of the Year
This award is presented to a member of BOMA of Greater Los Angeles for distinguished service to the Association.
Distinguished service is characterized by dedicated commitment to the Association's goals through active membership on committees, attendance at conferences, support of statewide advocacy efforts, acceptance of leadership roles, or other significant activities on behalf of the Association and its aims.
This award shall be bestowed on a nominee who is a current member in good standing and has been active for five (5) or more years.
Associate Member of the Year
This award is presented to an associate member of BOMA of Greater Los Angeles who best exemplifies the highest qualities of leadership and has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to the association and its membership.
Nominees support the association by attending or sponsoring functions and provide a high level of professionalism when dealing with clients, other BOMA/GLA members, and the commercial real estate community.
Property Manager of the Year
This award is presented to a member of BOMA of Greater Los Angeles in recognition of outstanding contributions to the commercial real estate industry through quality building management and professional growth.
Nominees must currently manage commercial, retail, industrial, government, facilities, mixed-use or any combination thereof, in the Greater Los Angeles market.
This award shall be bestowed on a nominee who is a current member in good standing. Nominees should demonstrate their efforts to promote BOMA/GLA by supporting the association and by attending and/or sponsoring functions. Nominees regularly include Associate Members in bid processes; have a reputation for honesty and integrity in contract negotiation and provide a high level of professionalism when working with clients, other BOMA/GLA members, and the commercial real estate community.
Engineer of the Year
This award is presented to a nominee who supports one or more building members of BOMA of Greater Los Angeles. The nominee maintains the property to the highest standards possible and provides an outstanding level of professionalism when working with building tenants and staff. Nominations must be made by a current BOMA/GLA building owner or manager.
Generation BOMA (Gen B) Professional of the Year
This award recognizes individuals who are pursuing excellence in their careers and have made a valuable contribution to BOMA Greater Los Angeles by serving in a volunteer leadership position. Gen B members are defined by the Association as younger members newer to the commercial real estate industry and their specific area of expertise.
Nominees must be a member of BOMA Greater Los Angeles. They must demonstrate initiative, excellent performance, dedication and professionalism. The nominee is committed to development of their professional and leadership skills through involvement in BOMI Institute courses, BOMA seminars or other professional training.
Submitting a Nomination
After reading the criteria for awards, choose a person to nominate. Gather information to substantiate the stated award criteria—this can include letters of support, copies of work, newspaper clippings and any other compelling information that the Awards Committee should evaluate.
Complete a nomination form. Nominations will be accepted online ONLY.
Once we receive your nomination, it is forwarded to the BOMA/GLA Awards of Excellence Committee to be evaluated. If there is any missing information, you will be notified by email, and you will have one week from the date of the email for the information to be received by the Awards of Excellence Committee.

Awards Judging
All submissions are reviewed by an anonymous committee of BOMA/GLA members and are judged based on the outlined criteria. Awards are given based on the information provided for each specified guideline.

BOMA/GLA awards honor individuals who have distinguished themselves, and in doing so, have made significant contributions to the industry.
